Ram rakhe tem Rahiye
A king’s minister always reacted to any event by proclaiming “whatever the Lord does is always for the best.” Once the king’s finger got cut badly while cleaning his sword and while it was bleeding profusely, the minister made his proclamation. The King was furious and ordered the immediate imprisonment of the minister for his insensitivity. While the minister was being taken to jail, he made his proclamation again. A few days later, the king went hunting in a forest and lost his way. He was caught by a jungle-tribe who took him to their king. He was then chosen to be sacrificed as per their custom. While he was being dressed for this, an elderly tribesman saw his finger cut and as per their tradition, the king was released, since the person sacrificed had to be immaculate and perfect. The king remembered the minister's proclamation on his finger being cut and rushed to release him immediately. Thanking him profusely, he asked, “I have just one question, how was your imprisonment also for the best the Lord could do.” The minister smiled and said, “ Had I not been imprisoned, I would have surely been with you in the forest, and after rejecting you, surely they would have sacrificed me instead.” If we were to accept just this one line in everything that happens, then our life too would be so stressfree, worry-free, blissful.
This needs unwavering faith, devotion in the Lord. So many great devotees like Meera bai lived by this faith. She said “Ram rakhe tem rahiye.” She has no complaints, no questions irrespective of what life brought to her. She saw the hand of her Krishna in every event, every circumstance. She had no Chinta as her Lord would take care of everything. Our intellect is too small to judge any event just as the king didn’t realize how the Lord was saving him by cutting his finger. His ways are strange, but His methods are sure. He knows better than us what we need.
Personally, I am trying to imbibe this one principle in my living; I succeed sometimes, sometimes I don’t. I am far from living it totally. I know we need His Grace to attain that state fully, not just our effort.
In this context, Dada Vaswani says:
‘Accept every incident and accident as God’s prasadam to you. Rejoice in whatever His Will brings to you. Let this be the mantra of your life: “Yes. Father yes and always yes.”’
