Remembering My Mom
After reading the previous article, a close friend called and asked which ‘Byes’ have been the most different for me. It set me thinking in a flashback and indeed some were particularly disturbing. I lost my mom while I was still studying. I hadn’t experienced life enough then to fully understand its impact. Everything changed overnight and suddenly there was a vacuum. Alarm clock took over her soft hand waking me up every morning. And about 5 years back, I had to bid ‘bye’ to my Guru Haribhai Kothari. He was my mentor, my support system, my ‘adhar’. I owed my very existence to Him. I survived many severe setbacks only due to this one shattered me totally. But one’s Guru never dies. He continues to be my guide through His books, His words. I still feel His presence, His loving hand over me. I miss Him a lot. And then, there was one more ‘Bye’… let it be.
And it is time again to remember my mom and offer my gratitude to my Guru’s feet. As you all know, on May 1 every year (my mom’s death anniversary), we keep a program in her memory at Prempuri Ashram, 3rd Floor Hall, Opp. Westside Store, Babulnath. I hope you all will join me in this annual offering. The program will start at 5 pm sharp with some Sufi and popular Bhajans by my friend Ankit and Paramjeet (on the guitar). And as usual, I too will bore you with 2 songs in a new experiment never tried before at Prempuri Ashram. Next, will be my Guru’s 15 minutes talk (video) on the big screen. And finally will be the talk by Ms. Anahita Sanjana, the speaker of the evening in English. She is a disciple of Shri Aurobindo and of yoga and yogic life among the young generation. The program will end by 7:30 pm. Please do come as you have been, over the years now. It’s a Bank Holiday and your presence will be a source of immense joy to me. Please come before 5 pm and we can meet before the program starts. See you on May 1.
