In Search of Sensitivity

Recently i overheard a conversation between two young girls, one ridiculing the others confession as to how much she cried while watching "titanic".Many of us may have also ridiculed somebodys sensitive nature at many times in our lives.Well the word 'sensitivity' - my favourite in dictionary.Maybe it was derived from 'being sensible'.Amongst other bankruptcies if there is an acute insolvency of something today it could be of this sensitivity in us. I can still vividly recall the total insensitivity of the audience finding incomprehensible humour in Karishma Kapoor throwing stones at God in the sky complaining for feeling bad on a heartbreak.I confess that i had tears in my eyes watching the intensity of the scene & performance accompanied by laughter & shouting by my co-audience.I cant forget(or should i say 'forgive') the insensible audience trying to clap with the slow, serious & beautiful Mukesh song "jaane kahan gaye woh din" in Raj Kapoors most sensitive "mera naam joker".I feel proud(not stupid) to confess publicly that i cried a lot in 'Titanic','Sadma','Kuch Kuch hota Hai' & many more. The question is not about whether its just a movie but whether one gets touched any more or not.
The favouritism of the almighty lord towards women is clear when we analyse how sensitive he has made them(as compared to men).No wonder the priviledge to give birth to a person is strictly reserved for them.I wish men too could give vent to their emotions sometimes too & learn from the tears shed by their opposite sex.The average probability of heart attack in men is obviously higher. If there are laughing clubs for women in garden there should be even more 'crying club' for men where they are taught to cry out their emotions and feel light.Maybe crying is even healthier than laughing. For it is not enough to be just sensitive,it pays sometimes to express that sensitivity. And who could be the most insensitivr than the 'atheist' who refuses to recognise the existence of the creator in all his creations without putting own label.Just go to the nature through the sea-shores,moutains,rains,sun-rise,sunsets,flowers,eyes of a child, voice of Jagjit Singh & u will see the intense sensitivity of the creator. But the atheist wants to see him only in the human form as seen in the symbolic photographs. I feel the 'atheist' is a true indicator of how subtle & humble the hiding God is.Do we have the sensitivity to see him? the learned advice us to go within us to reach him.In simple practical words they mean 'be sensible to the call of heart within.'

  1. Loved the line when you said the meaning of sensitivity may be derived from 'being sensible'. Not once could I disagree to your thoughts...

  2. Men try to 'act' tough and they some how succeed in it , I think that is the way creator wants us to be ...

  3. Just love your post, its something so real....emotions have given way to material pleasures, transforming us into man-made machines. In this tech savvy world, most people rely on impersonal means of communication like email & chat, seldom do they realise that a simple gestures like a smile, cry also mean a lot. Words not necessarily say everything.
