YOUR CHOICE.

A few days back,while cleaning my drawer,I found (Meghna's) poems and a list of my batches 3-4yrs back.And i re-called some of the memories of a few on that list who were so close to me then and about whom i knew so much-so many long calls,personal agonies, confessions, heartburns.I had felt then that they had become such close friends of mine and remaining in touch was a foregone conclusion.And today,I dont even knw where they are and what they are doing.It all fazed out so quickly.Heard of "Lost & Found" dept? Well I have a long "Lost & Found" dept.In most cases, it was either distance, career, or marriage which proved too strong for my lonely inclination to remain with them.I just hate saying Bye to anyone.I kept wondering why we say GoodBye- How can a bye be ever good? Does 'moving on' & 'growing up' need to be so harsh? All this is not about living in the past.Its all about caring of the past.Yes,initially,I tried hard to remain in touch with them till i realised that they were reciprocating only for my sake.They never called.They only returned my calls.I felt as if i was piling on their time & feelings.They were perhaps putting up only because they dint want to be rude.Their personal agonies(which they had once shared with me) had left their lives in the sense they had maybe got over it.Now it was my turn to go too.I did.They all just flew away leaving behind their sweet memories for me.They had a choice to come back someday.But they didn't.
But no complains- Perhaps my "NO EXPECTATIONS FROM ANYONE" mantra stands by me here.Maybe ,real friendship ,reasonless care & purposeless affection, sentiments etc. have become outdated.
With a hope that you will never join my "Lost & Found" list down the years. That CHOICE is all yours.

P.S -This was a short article I wrote for a college magazine in 1997,when asked about my experiences in life-But its true.

    Well said sir. The mantra to b happy is indeed to keep no expectations and nobody els but you have taught this to us. To forgive and forget, to jst give give and give and never expect anything in return because you will get what you need and not what you want, deserve or desire. The Almighty knows us more than anybody else. All the wisdom you shared with us is going to be there within me always and forever as a TAAVEEZ,( not deep down in my heart, LOL i remember u saying this once in the class that we should not keep our knowledge deep down within us and it gets rusty over a period of time) No matter if it was out of your personal experiences or the philosophies you have shared from any source whatsoever.
    All i can say is ur one of the truly BEAUTIFUL persons i have come across in my life so far.

Happiness Quotient

A Chinese Proverb says, “if you want happiness  For some moments = indulge in any sense-pleasure For an hour = take a nap or a walk  For a day = go for a picnic For a month = get married (debatable)  For a year = inherit a fortune (that is, in one year you must have spent it)  For a decade = get divorced (Well, Well, I added this one to make my married friends imagine happiness) For a lifetime = give, give, give (love, care, help, time, patience, smile, tears to others in need of them.) Mere Sapno ki Rani

I was a Sydenhamite and rejoined the college as a lecturer after completing C.A. Those were the golden years of the college. Being interested in music/singing, I also took active interest in Sydenham’s Performing Arts Society. The very first song I sang for a Sydenham fest then was “Mere sapno ki Rani kab aayegi tu.” During the same period I also got introduced to spirituality.
