True Love is Real Death
Only Osho could have expressed this above Truth so amazingly.
He further explains that love creates fear since love is death. In the death we
know of, only the body dies which is just like a dress. We drop the old body
and acquire a new one. The form changes, yet the same mind/ego continue (an old
wine in a new bottle). There is no real death. But love is real death since
here the body does not die, but the mind/ego/our identity dies or dissolves. If
you love, you cannot be the ego since the ego will not allow love. We have to
choose between love and our ego. And so we are fearful in love since we have to
drop ourselves now. Maybe, that is why true love (egoless) is vanishing from
our pretentious world.
What we call love today is just a false coin. The device is
to live in a false love in which our ego continues to thrive. We have invented
this false coin since without love life carries no meaning, no poetry, no dance
within, no celebration, no gratitude, and above all no prayer. It is so
difficult to live without love. So we play a trick, a game with our own self,
thinking that we love and at the same time our ego is alive and kicking. And so
look, what comes out of our love (so called)? Nothing, except conflict, quarrel,
misery, hell, violence, divorce, blame-game, etc. which are the by-products of
our ego thriving within.
The proof of this is in the fact that even our false love
does give us the promised bliss, but only, initially since in this beginning
phase our ego does go to sleep as it were, and we are so giving to the other. But
alas, the ego is only sleeping, not dead. The real coin of love is expensive. It
can be purchased only at the cost of losing yourself – a price which we are
unable to pay or unwilling to pay. And we go through our life playing with the
false coin of love. Love is the fire – test of our ego or lack of it. And only
through this fire will the rose of our being flower. There is no other way.
Take care…
