You Get What You Are

Sister Shivani made a potent observation relating to the Law of Attraction. She said, "You get what you are, not what you want." Many people religiously follow the ingredients given by the books on this Law (visualize what you want, feel as if you have got it, no doubting its potency) and yet are unable to see the promised manifestation of their desired visualization.
Thoughts lead to destiny, no doubt. But our perception is restricted to the thoughts we created in this birth only. The soul remaining the same, it takes on new bodies in every janma. The thoughts created in previous costumes (bodies) also have their own impact in the present embodiment. The Karmic accounts are carried forward from birth to birth. Perhaps this aspect is not considered while we discuss the Law of Attraction. In short the Law of Attraction is subject to the Law of Karma. When the desired manifestation does not fructify, one tends to become negative, sad, depressed, angry, hopeless, desperate. Now this further degenerates our state of being (what we are) and thereby we may resort to unfair and unethical means to get the desired object. We negate the Law of Attraction even further at that point. We must keep our present state of being (thoughts, karmas, qualities, skills) powerful, positive, sublime even when we don't get the desired fruit. Then gradually our past karmic accounts will get settled, and generate a present and a future favourable to our growth and liking.
The Blessings of a Mahatma never fails nor does His spoken word, since he has attained that state of being where the entire Universe and all its Laws bow down to His thought, word and wish.
